This machine has at least one lower feeder (12, 13) and two upper feeders (15, 16) to advance the material being sewn. The spacing of at least one of the upper feeders (15, 16) from the lower feeder, can be changed. This change can be made between at least two different positions. A stepper motor (29) causes displacement of the upper feeder(s) between the two (or more) positions. The stepper motor has a transmission (25-28) swinging a lever (23) of the upper feeder (16). The transmission (25-28) includes one or two timing belts (26, 28). The upper feeder includes a recirculating belt resting on the sewn material. It is biased by a spring into a lower position, towards the material. The upper feeder support, allows upward movement against spring bias, in accordance with material thickness. The lower spring-loaded feeder position is predetermined by an adjustable stop. |
