<p>The present invention provides: a biomass composition for saccharification use, which is suitable as a reaction raw material for use in a method for producing a sugar by a hydrolysis reaction of a cellulose-containing biomass, and which has improved saccharification performance; a method for selecting the biomass composition for saccharification use; and a method for producing a sugar, which comprises hydrolyzing the biomass composition for saccharification use. The biomass composition for saccharification use according to the present invention contains a cellulose, has a specific surface area of 150 to 600 m2/g in a dried state and a hemicellulose content of 1 to 15 mass%, and contains lignin and an ash content in the total amount of 10 to 60 mass%, wherein the cellulose has a degree of crystallinity of 1 to 60%.</p> |
