<p>A surgical tool (110) is described having a pair of arms (112, 114). A pair of electrodes (128), (130) are provided on the arms for cauterizing wounds. Surgical scissors (124, 126) are also provided for cutting tissues. The scissors are movable from a stored configuration to an extended configuration. In the extended configuration the electrodes (128, 130) are disabled or the scissors are insulated so that electrical current cannot flow between the scissor blades. The surgical tool provides multiple surgical functions in a single device which improves surgery because the surgeon can toggle between functions without diverting their attention from an operation.</p> |
