<p>PURPOSE: Pediococcus acidilactici M76 strain and exopolysaccharides produced from the same are provided to effectively promote proliferation of pancreatic beta cells, to protect pancreatic beta cells, and to prevent or treat diabetes. CONSTITUTION: Pediococcus acidilactici M76 strain (deposit number KACC91638P) promotes proliferation of pancreatic beta cells and protects pancreatic beta cells. The strain is isolated from makkoli (Korean rice wine). Exopolysaccharides which promote proliferation of pancreatic beta cells and protect pancreatic beta cells are produced from the strain. The exopolysaccharides are polysaccharides formed of glucose. A pharmaceutical composition for promoting or treating diabetes contains the strain as an active ingredient.</p> |
