[Class. 64 (iii)] In heat-exchange apparatus, e.g., radiators for internal-combustion engines, of the kind comprising thin-walled internally-reinforced tubes a, Figs. 1, 2, secured in the tube-plates of upper and lower headers, the tube-plates are reinforced by metal strips i soldered to the plates and formed with flanges j having corrugations adapted to engage the ends of the flanged tube springs. The strips help to prevent the fracture of the soldered joints between the tubes and the plates. Similar strips may be secured to the plates in the spaces between the rows of tubes. Further, the flanges j may be flat, and may be provided along both edges of the strips. |
