A motor vehicle door, e.g. a car door, with a supporting door structure 12, a door lock 14, an actuating unit, e.g. the door handle/key cylinder, 20 mechanically coupled to the door lock 14 by means of at least one connecting link 16, 18, and a holding part in the form of a plate 24 supporting itself on the door structure 12 and designed in order to limit a position change of the actuating unit 20 caused due to external application of force 44. The holding part may be an S or V shaped plate which is mounted on the opposite side of the actuating unit to the connecting links, and when a force is applied to the exterior of the handle downwards, the actuating unit located within the vehicle door rotates upwards. It then contacts with the holding part (Fig 4) preventing further upward (in Fig 4) movement. Without the holding part this movement of the actuator would cause the connecting links 16, 18 to unlock the vehicle lock 14 allowing access to the vehicle (see Figs 1, 2). |
