733,079. Penholders. ESTERBROOK PEN CO. June 24, 1952, No. 15895/52. Class 146(3). A penholder having a recessed and internally threaded end portion with a bevelled seat at the inner end thereof is combined with a feedbar having an inclined rear end which effects a camming action against the seat when screwed into the penholder, to wedge the feed-bar and a nib thereon in place. As shown, a penholder P has a threaded socket p having a bevelled seat p<SP>1</SP> engaged by the rear face 11 j of a feed-bar 11 threaded at 11c. The face 11j is slightly inclined to the vertical, such that when the feedbar 11 is screwed into engagement with the seat p<SP>1</SP> the feed-bar 11 is tilted to wedge the nib 12 in place to support the feed-bar 11 firmly. The tilting also ensures correct engagement of the forward end of the nib 12 with the feed-bar 11. The nib 12 is located on the feed-bar 11 by a lip 12a engaging a recess 11g and by a projection 12b formed between parallel slits in the nib shank engaging a recess 11h in the feed-bar 11. A helical space 11d provides a storage space for ink fed therefrom to the ink via a groove 11 f Alternatively, a plurality of annular recesses 11m, Fig. 7 (not shown) or 111m, Fig. 8 (not shown), are provided ; in the latter case the recesses are eccentric to the feed-bar axis. Ink may be introduced into the storage spaces by dipping the feed-bar in ink or by the inkfeeding means described in Specifications 653,391 or 656,656. |
