The present invention relates to a mobile terminal with a SIM card and a battery management method thereof. The mobile terminal with a SIM card according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a power supply unit including a battery; a wireless communication unit; a SIM card unit including the SIM card; and a control unit which exchanges information with a base station. The control unit provides the polling period of the SIM card received from the base station for the SIM card, and checks the status of the SIM card based on the polling timer modified by a command from the SIM card.
