PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virus adsorbent having excellent virus adsorbing power.SOLUTION: A virus adsorbent has a specific surface area of 20 m/g or more and less than 250 m/g and a zeta potential of 40 mV or more measured in pure water. The virus adsorbent is formed of inorganic oxide. The virus adsorbent formed of inorganic oxide including at least zirconium oxide and/or cerium oxide. A virus adsorbing component includes any one of the virus adsorbents fixed to a substrate.
