A metal drum formed with a body having at least one cylindrical portion has at least one outwardly-pressed circumferential ring, e.g. for rolling, and outwardly pressed ribs between the ring and the cylindrical portion, the diameters of the ribs progressively decreasing from the diameter of tubing to the diameter of the cylindrical portion. As shown, two zones 11, 12, between a rolling ring 4 and adjacent cylindrical portions 6, 13, are strengthened against axial forces by additional circumferential ribs of diameters Dl, D2. In another form, Fig. 4 (not shown), a pair of adjacent rolling rings have strengthening circumferential ribs above and below. In yet another form, Fig. 5 (not shown), a continuous series of circumferential ribs extend from rolling rings to cylindrical portions at the drum ends. |
