PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for forming an electrode which is excellent in dispersibility of an active material and a conductive assistant, and to provide a secondary battery which is excellent in long term charge/discharge cycle characteristics by capable of obtaining an electrode layer having high electrolyte resistance.SOLUTION: A composition for forming a secondary battery electrode is formed by using one of (A) an active material and (B) a conductive assistant, (C) one or more kinds of derivatives selected from a group consisting of an organic pigment derivative having an acidic group or a basic group, an anthraquinone derivative, an acridone derivative, and a triazine derivative, and (D) a silane coupling agent.
