PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a membrane-electrode assembly for a solid polymer fuel cell, by which a catalyst layer having a homogeneous pore structure can be formed while suppressing damages of an electrolyte membrane by a mechanical load and suppressing swelling of the electrolyte membrane.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a membrane-electrode assembly includes: a first catalyst layer forming step of applying a paste 4 containing a first catalyst on a surface of an electrolyte membrane 1 fixed on a first substrate 2, the surface being opposite to the first substrate side of the electrolyte membrane, and then drying the paste 4 containing the first catalyst applied on the electrolyte membrane 1; and a second catalyst layer forming step of fixing a laminate 10 comprising the first catalyst layer 4, the electrolyte membrane 1 and the first substrate 2 to a second substrate 3 having rubber elasticity in such a manner that the first catalyst layer 4 is in contact with the second substrate 3 and no space is formed between the laminate 10 and the second substrate 3, and then applying a paste 4' containing a second catalyst on a surface of the electrolyte membrane 1, the surface being opposite to the surface where the first catalyst layer 4 is formed, and then drying the paste 4' containing the second catalyst applied on the electrolyte membrane 1. |
