METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING COMPLICATIONS OF THE FIRST TRIMESTER IN PATIENTS WHO BECAME PREGNANT FOLLOWING ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

A method for diagnosing the complications of the first trimester in the patients who became pregnant following assisted reproductive technologies comprises immunohistochemistry of the cells in the cervical mucus for the identification of trophoblastic cells with the aid the monoclonal antibody recognizing HLA-G that are expressed on the cells of extravillous trophoblast. In addition, monoclonal antibody SC-21733 are used for the identification of the fetal nuclear specific marker – matrix metallopeptidase MMp9. For counting the nuclei, the specimens are treated with hematoxylin. HLA-G positive cells and free nuclei are stained brown. The numerous counts of the stained cells are indicative of the favorable course of the first trimester. When the pregnancy is arrested or in the case of the tubal pregnancy, the count of the trophoblastic elements (cells and nuclei) in the mucus is small.
