755,774. X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 10, 1954 [May 13, 1953], No. 13563/54. Class 98 (1). An X-ray table 1 is rotatable through a fixed range without sliding along a curved surface 2 of a supporting base 5 by flexible means 18 connected to the table 1 at points 6, 7 and engaged by a rotatable disc 17. The dimensions of the parts and the positions of points 6, 7 are so chosen that if the base 5 were rolled in contact with table 1, the locus of the centre of disc 17 would approximate closely, over the range of movement of the table, to an ellipse of which points 6, 7 are the foci. Disc 17 is mounted at a point on a line perpendicular to the table and passing through its line of contact with the base when the table is midway between its extreme positions, and may be resiliently mounted to keep member 18 taut. Member 18 may be a belt, rope or chain driven by engagement with disc 17, which may be driven by a motor or by hand by means housed in base 5. To prevent longitudinal slipping, tapes 11, 12 fixed at 13, 15 to table 1 pass over the curved surface 2 and are secured to the base at 14, 16. |
