The engine (101) has an adjustable stored crankshaft (102) for variably adjusting a compression ratio in a combustion chamber (108). A two-mass flywheel (111) transmits rotational torque of the crankshaft to a transmission input shaft (110). An eccentric cam is designed as a primary mass arranged within a secondary mass of the flywheel. Drivers connect the primary and secondary masses, and movably arranged in guides. The secondary mass has stoppers for the respective drivers, where the stoppers are arranged on a trajectory around a middle axis of the secondary mass. An independent claim is also included for a method for torsion-absorbed transmission of torque by a two-mass flywheel to a transmission input shaft of a lifting cylinder combustion engine.
