PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polychloroprene including an emulsifier other than rosinates and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A water-soluble petroleum resin is obtained by reacting, with a basic compound, an α,&bgr;-unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride-modified petroleum resin obtained by reacting an α,&bgr;-unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride and a petroleum resin. It has been discovered, in particular, that, if a water-soluble petroleum resin having a critical micelle concentration of 180 g/L or below is used for the emulsion polymerization of chloroprene, a high-quality polychloroprene is obtained in a high productivity. |
