Class 120(2) [Also in Group XXXII] In a yarn tension regulator a movable yarn engaging member is fitted with a damper comprising an agitator which extends into a fluidtight chamber containing liquid, part of the wall of the chamber being formed by a flexible member which permits movement of the agitator with respect to part of the chamber and the arrangement is such that movement of the movable yarn engaging member causes relative movement between the agitator and the liquid and that resistance to this movement due to the resilience of the flexible member is negligible. In the arrangement shown a damper is applied to the yarn tension regulator disclosed in Specification 797,601. The arm 20 which carries the movable yarn engaging member 17 is pivoted on knife edges at 28 and carries an agitator rod 31 which extends upwardly into a fluid chamber 32. This chamber comprises a tubular member 33 having a close fitting cap 34 and an elongated flexible member 44 made, for example, or neoprene. In operation the flexible member 44 accommodates both lateral and pivotal movement of agitator 31 while the rigid member 33 ensures that when the agitator is moved there will be relative movement between the agitator and the fluid thus providing damping of the movement. In other embodiments the flexible member is in the form of a resilient grommet, a flexible diaphragm, or a tubular bellows member. It may also be arranged that the point of entry of the agitator into the chamber is on the same axis about which the pivotal movement of the arm 20 takes place.
