METHOD FOR DETERMINING BITRATE FOR VIDEO QUALITY OPTIMIZATION BASED ON BLOCK ARTIFACT

Disclosed is a method of determining a bitrate at which an input image is to be encoded based on the detection of a block artifact. The method of determining a bitrate may include the steps of performing multi-stage bitrate encoding on an input image; detecting block artifact candidate groups for a plurality of frames constituting the input image on which the multi-stage bitrate encoding is performed; extracting an accumulated block artifact map based on the block artifact candidate group; detecting a block artifact pertaining to a block artifact distribution area among pixel locations corresponding to the block artifact candidate groups detected from a plurality of frames as a final block artifact; generating probability density functions of each bitrate by using the final block artifact; and determining final encoding bitrates of each of the frames based on the probability density functions.
