A method and system for safely tracking drugs during a transfer and administering process, in which a bar-coded label, for application to a syringe, is generated at the point of care of a patient from reading a bar-coded coded label on a drug storage container, wherein the newly generated label is generated by a reader/printer at the point of care so as to be available for application to the syringe at the time of filling the syringe to avoid labelling errors.
