A battery energy storage system according to the present invention, which is capable of increasing a data transfer rate, includes a battery management apparatus for charging power of a power system or discharging the power to the power system; and an integration controller for controlling the charging and discharging operations of the battery management apparatus. The battery management apparatus includes a tray BMS(Battery Management System) for obtaining battery module data of an analog type including at least one of voltage, current and temperature of battery modules from a plurality of trays, each of which includes at least one battery module and for converting the battery module data of the analog type into battery module data of a digital type; and a remote input and output unit connected to the tray BMS through a hard wire and for transmitting the battery module data of the analog type received through the hard wire to the integration controller according to a first communication protocol. |
