The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display and a method for driving the same. The liquid crystal display according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: a matrix type display panel; a data driving part which supplies data voltage to data lines; a gate driving part; and a timing controller. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the timing controller increases the on time of a gate pulse.
