Disclosed is an apparatus and method for automatically calibrating a telescope. The apparatus for automatically calibrating a telescope comprises: a telescope measuring part measuring the quantity of telescoping of a wound coil; a calibration determining part determining whether calibration is conducted or not according to the measured quantity of telescoping and the types of steel of the wound coil; a calibration time determining part determining calibration time based on the width of the wound coil if it is determined that the calibration is conducted; and a telescope calibrating part performing the calibration operation of the telescope by the determined calibration time. Accordingly, the telescope can be differently calibrated according to the type of steel of the wound coil. |
