The present invention relates to a compact type wide angle lens system and, more specifically, to a compact type wide angle lens system used for a compact imaging device such as a portable device, a black box for a vehicle, and a rear camera for a vehicle. The compact type wide angle lens system comprises five lenses including a first through a fifth lens. The first lens has a convex negative refraction towards an object. The second lens (120) has a convex negative refraction towards the object. The third lens has a convex positive refraction towards the object side and an image side. The fourth lens has a positive refraction which is convex towards the object side and horizontal towards the image side. The fifth lens has a convex positive refraction towards the object side and the image side. The compact type wide angle lens system has a horizontal view angle of between 125-135 degrees.
