PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manganese oxide abrasive for polishing glass which has a high polishing speed to the glass, where polishing does not cause flaws, where handling is easy and which is inexpensive.SOLUTION: A manganese oxide abrasive for polishing glass: is a particle whose main component is MnOobtained by firing MnO; contains an electrolyte consisting of a halide or a nitrate of an alkali metal element of 0.1-5 wt.% to a manganese oxide powder; has an average particle diameter D50 of a secondary particle of 0.6-2.5μm; does not contain an abrasive grain having a size of 10μm or more; has a high polishing speed to the glass; is excellent in polishing performance to the glass because flaws are not caused by polishing; and is easy to be handled.
