Disclosed is a method for interpolating an image to a subpixel unit using a conversion-based interpolation filter. The method includes the steps of: separately selecting a symmetrical interpolation filter having a symmetrical form or an asymmetric interpolation filter having an asymmetric form based on an interpolation location according to the interpolation location of the subpixel unit in interpolation filters to generate a pixel value of at least one subpixel unit located among pixel unit pixels; interpolating pixel values of the pixel unit pixels using the selected interpolation filter; and generating the pixel value of at least one subpixel unit.
