PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for treating exhaust gas, which keep SOremoval efficiency of a constant level or more compared with a conventional apparatus and furthermore enable operation cost to be remarkably restrained.SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating exhaust gas removes a sulfur content included in exhaust combustion gas. The apparatus for treating exhaust gas includes treatment agent supply means 2 for supplying a treatment agent 102 to a flue 11 through which exhaust combustion gas 100 flow, temperature drop means 3 for cooling the exhaust combustion gas 100 supplied with the treatment agent 102 and condensing a SOcomponent in the exhaust combustion gas 100, an electrostatic precipitator 4 provided in the flue 11 on the exhaust gas back stream side of the temperature drop means 3, a desulfurization unit 5 provided on the exhaust gas back stream side of the electrostatic precipitator 4 and based on a lime-gypsum method and circulation means 6 for supplying a part of dust 101 recovered by the electrostatic precipitator 4 to the flue 11 on the exhaust gas upstream side of the temperature drop means 3, and causing a part of the dust 101 to be circularly used as the treatment agent. |
