Class 132(1) [Also in Group XXX] Two U-shaped frames 1, 1a, 1 and 4, 4a, 4 are hinged together, frame 1, 1a, 1 forming a mobile base frame (e.g. with wheels 2), and lifting mechanism is inserted between the two frames to provide for their relative angular movement, the apparatus being used for supporting invalids when they are learning to walk. A bracket 8a carried on frame 4, 4a, 4 is secured to the upper part of the cylinder 9a of a hydraulic hoist comprising an oil reservoir 9, a pump 9c and a piston rod 29b whose lower end is pivoted to an arm 10 secured to the frame 1, 1a, 1. An operating lever 19 is pivoted to brackets 18 secured to the housing of the pump 9c. Member 4a carries feet 22 with rubber knobs 22a so that, when the frame 4, 4a, 4 is in its lowest position these knobs engage the floor and the device is prevented from running along the floor: Crutch staffs 40 are slidably mounted in the ends of arms 4 and carry armpit rests 11. Suspended below rests 11 on a frame 44 is seat 15.
