A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improved image quality by processing an image at high speed through a histogram. An image and brightness improvement unit(200) receives R, G, and B data from the outside and analyzes the histogram by a frame or a pixel unit, and it selects one of BDI or MEDI according to brightness property. The image and brightness improvement unit inserts intermediate data into an original data by a selection method. A timing controller(111) re-arranges R, G, B data from the image and brightness improvement unit and generates a collection data, and it receives a vertical/horizontal synchronous signal from the outside and generates a new control signal which is synchronized with the correction data. |
