<p>A communication device in an embodiment of the present invention can be connected to a source device, and is provided with a detection unit, a power control unit, and an authentication unit. The detection unit detects connection of the source device by detecting, via a cable having a connector which goes to an on state mechanically upon connection of the source device, that the connector is in the on state. When connection of the source device is detected, the power control unit starts supplying power to the source device via the cable. After the supply of power starts, the authentication unit authenticates the source device on the basis of authen tication data received from the source device. When the source device is successfully au thenticated, the power control unit continues supplying power to the source device.</p> |
