PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet glass manufacturing apparatus and a method for manufacturing a sheet glass that may minimize a thickness deviation of the sheet glass by optimizing a temperature distribution along a crosswise direction of a molten glass on forming the sheet glass from the molten glass by a down-draw process.SOLUTION: A sheet glass manufacturing apparatus 1 forms a sheet glass G using an overflow down-draw process by flowing a molten glass Y downward from a molding 2. The apparatus 1 is equipped with a pair of first heating apparatuses 6 for heating the molten glass Y from both sides. Each first heating apparatus 6 is composed of a plurality of first heaters 7 arranged along the crosswise direction of the molten glass Y. A division position P1 of the first heaters 7 of the first heating apparatus 6 on one side and the division position P2 of the first heaters 7 of the first heating apparatus 6 on the other side is different in the crosswise direction.
