PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide execution of rounding operations corresponding to instructions.SOLUTION: In one embodiment, present invention includes a method comprising: receiving a rounding instruction and an immediate value in a processor; determining whether a rounding mode override indicator of the immediate value is active; and executing, if the immediate value is active, a rounding operation on a source operand in a floating point unit of the processor in response to the rounding instruction and according to a rounding mode described in an immediate operand.
