PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve therapeutic compositions for Type I diabetes.SOLUTION: This invention provides the use of DPIV inhibitors in manufacture of pharmaceutical compositions for oral administration for treatment of Type I diabetes, wherein the DPIV inhibitors are high affinity inhibitors of DPIV, and prescribed for administration once a day in sufficient amounts to alleviate impaired glucose tolerance and promote pancreatic tissue regeneration.
