The present invention relates to a resource request method, a DHCPv6 server and a resource allocation system. The method comprises: a dynamic host configuration protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) server sending a first notification message to a DHCPv6 client, the first notification message carrying a first resource status indication, and the first resource status indication carrying a status code with no resource available within a specified period of time; and enabling the DHCPv6 client to send a resource request message after the specified period of time. According to the present invention, by carrying a specified period of time in a notification message, a client can send a solicit message after the specified period of time, reducing unnecessary message interaction overhead among clients/servers, reducing the load of network bandwidth, avoiding continuous processing of a large amount of invalid solicit messages by a server, and alleviating the processing pressure on the server.
