The counter (1) has a housing (2) within which a stator is rotatably arranged around a rotational axis (R), where the stator is stabilized by an external static field i.e. gravitational field of earth. A sensor arrangement is arranged to detect relative revolutions between the stator and the housing. The sensor arrangement is provided with the sensor i.e. change signal transmitter, which is interacted with the stator. A revolution counter main portion is switched between a rest mode and a revolution mode based on measurement result of the sensor arrangement.
