PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel economy by appropriately switching over travel modes.SOLUTION: A travel mode switchover control device for a hybrid vehicle, the device enabled to switch over between a battery travel mode and an engine travel mode, where, in the former, a front wheel 3 and/or a rear wheel 5 are/is driven by driving a front motor 4 and a rear motor 6 with power supplied from a drive battery 11 while an engine 2 is stopped working, and, in the latter, the front wheel 3 and/or the rear wheel 5 are/is driven by driving the front motor 4 and the rear motor 6 with power generated by driving a generator 9 with the engine 2, includes a hybrid control unit 20 for switching over between the battery travel mode and the engine travel mode on the basis of both a vehicle-requiring output necessary for travel driving of a vehicle 1 and a charging rate of the drive battery 11. Further, in the case of the vehicle-requiring output exceeding a threshold during the vehicle traveling in the battery travel mode, the mode is switched over to the engine travel mode, and the threshold is set lower as the charging rate decreases. |
