A sensor streamer comprises a rigid stem assembly 60 comprising a plurality of rigid stems 70 that are interconnected and comprise a stem body 95 that defines one or more interior chambers. In one embodiment a hydrophone, geophone or other geophysical sensor is incorporated into one or more of the rigid stems. In another embodiment joints interconnect adjacent rigid stems in an open configuration forming flexible connections 115, or in a closed configuration forming a more rigid connection. Protective covers may be disposed over the connections between adjacent rigid stems. Stem joints may comprise locking pins or a rod-and-socket joint. A lead-in assembly may be used with the streamer and may be also be rigid and have a length of at least 25m and a width of up to 1m and a bending stiffness of 700Nm2 over a length of at last 25m. The interior chambers may be filled with a gas. |
