770,644. Drilling; milling; work-holders. DECKEL, H., and DECKEL, F. W. Sept. 11, 1953 [Sept. 15, 1952; Oct. 28, 1952; Nov. 4, 1952], No. 25161/53. Class 83 (3). [Also in Groups XIX and XXIII] A self-contained machine-table comprises a compound slide 28, 32, graduated scales for adjusting each slide, means for fastening the base 26 of the table to a milling-machine and means 60, 64 for angularly adjusting the base relatively to the machine. The table is attached to a milling-machine having a horizontal spindle 16 adjustable axially by a wheel 14, and a vertically-adjustable knee 19 carrying a cross-slide 20. The base 26 has a horizontal face 54 abutting the slide 20 and is clamped thereto by two T-bolts 82 tightened by screws 76. The table can be adjusted accurately to a horizontal position by the abutment-screw 60, 64. The two slides are coarsely adjusted by hand wheels 42, 44 and scales 34, 36 and finely adjusted by means 46, 48 and optical means 50, 52. The milling-machine, for jig-boring purposes, carries an angularly-adjustable drillspindle 92 driven from the spindle 16 and fed by a wheel 94 or automatically. In a modification, the table is also adjustable about a transverse horizontal axis, by a screw 102, Figs. 5 and 6, engaging a sliding block 100 having a convex surface 110 which, together with a short convex surface 54a, replaces the continuous horizontal surface 54 of the first embodiment. The table may also be used for measuring, scribing or testing by attaching to it a standard 208, Fig. 8, carrying a microscope 216 &c. |
