Provided are a micro-converter device for a photovoltaic module and a method of controlling the same, capable of coping with the overcurrent of an inductor by minimizing insertion loss. The micro-converter device for the photovoltaic module includes a micro-converter interworking with a junction box included in the photovoltaic module to compensate for a current difference between photovoltaic modules by changing a current path according to a difference between power generated by the photovoltaic modules; and a string controller for adjusting voltage of the photovoltaic module by controlling a duty cycle of the micro-converter based on the power generated by the photovoltaic modules output from the micro-converter. Two micro-converters are realized in one box and installed in every two modules to adjust the voltage of the photovoltaic module, so that the number of the micro-converter boxes can be minimized. In addition, if the overcurrent flows through the inductor, an action for the overcurrent may be taken in real time. |
