<p>A flowing-water turbine assembly 104 for use with unidirectional and bidirectional water flows comprises at least a first buoyancy device 107 with fixed positive buoyancy material, and a ballast tank which can be filled with water. The assembly further includes a second buoyancy device e.g. 110 having fixed buoyancy. The turbine may be moored by a plurality of mooring lines which connect to a plurality of line couplings, which may be arranged under the centre of buoyancy of the buoyancy devices. The buoyancy may be reduced so that the turbine can be lowered from the surface by a winch, and may be increased to provide stability in use by maintaining tension in the mooring lines. Buoyancy with the ballast tank flooded may be less than 5 tonnes, and may be over 300 tonnes with the tanks filled with air. The frame may include a hydrofoil to provide additional lift.</p> |
