The present invention relates to a method for providing a monitoring service, which provides image information on an emergency situation from a mobile robot to a user, and a mobile robot device therefor. Provided is a method for providing a monitoring service according to an emergency situation occurrence in a mobile robot moving to a specific detection area and detecting an emergency situation. The method includes: moving to a direction of a place where an emergency situation occurs as the emergency situation is detected and capturing an image around the place in real time to transmit it to a designated monitoring device; monitoring whether a moved region is a call coverage out-of-service boundary region; if the moved region is the call coverage out-of-service boundary region, stopping the moving and comparing a distance to the place where the emergency situation occurs and a camera close-up available distance; if the moved region is out of the call coverage out-of-service boundary region, leaving the call coverage region, moving to the place where the emergency situation occurs, and recording an image for the emergency situation; and entering the call coverage region and transmitting the recorded image to the monitoring device. |
