PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for detecting a cutting edge more accurately with an inexpensive configuration without need of an expensive dustproof mechanism.SOLUTION: A machine tool comprises: a main spindle rotating a tool attached thereto; a plate spring member mounting thereon a workpiece to be machined by the tool attached to the main spindle, and bent when being pressed by the tool; a conductor conductive to the plate spring member when the plate spring member contacts the conductor in a state in which the plate spring member is not bent, and non-conductive to the plate spring member in a state in which the plate spring member is bent; an air nozzle blowing off chips accumulated on the plate spring member with air; and control means for driving the main spindle to press the tool on the plate spring member and detecting the conductive state and the non-conductive state between the plate spring member and the conductor while the air nozzle blows off the chips, thereby detecting a cutting edge of the tool. |
