PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit including a surface light source, and to provide a vehicle lamp device which uses the lamp unit.SOLUTION: A lamp unit includes: an optical member; a base plate which is arranged so as to be spaced a given distance away from the optical member; a spacer which is disposed between the base plate and the optical member and supports a periphery of the optical member; a light source disposed on the base plate; and a lens which is fastened to the base plate and covers the light source. It is preferable that the lens includes a connection part which contacts with the base plate and a reinforcement part which contacts with the spacer.
