GAS DISCHARGE LAMP HAVING INTEGRATED SOCKET RING ESPECIALLY FOR AUTOMOBILE HEADLIGHT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas discharge lamp in which connection of a burner to a plastic material casing satisfies high requirements for vibration resistance and shock resistance in an automobile.SOLUTION: The gas discharge lamp of the present invention especially for an automobile headlight has the burner which is equipped with an electric ballast formed in the plastic material casing. The burner is mounted in a metal socket ring on the plastic material casing and is electrically connected to a component of the electric ballast by feed through in the plastic material casing. The socket ring or at least a lower part of the socket ring is integrally formed with the plastic material casing. Increased vibration resistance and shock resistance of the gas discharge lamp are attained because of the integral design with the plastic material casing.
