A method for managing power of a mobile terminal comprises the steps of sensing a request for entering a low power mode from the mobile terminal; generating information on a power consumption characteristic of the mobile terminal; extracting a specific process or application being executed which prevents the mobile terminal from entering the low power mode, based on the information on the power consumption characteristic; and activating a power management function of the mobile terminal to terminate the specific process or application being executed.
