PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that generates light source light having high luminance and high color reproducibility obtained by performing wavelength conversion using a wavelength conversion element, and a projector capable of forming images having high reproducibility by using the light source device.SOLUTION: A light source device includes a wavelength conversion element that receives irradiation of first light and emits second light within a first wavelength range, and a wavelength separation element to which the second light enters. The wavelength separation element generates third light in which the light intensity of a component within a second wavelength range of a component within the first wavelength range is reduced compared to the second light.
