An in-containment refueling water storage tank (IRWST) filter system, comprising: a debris barrier (4) disposed above a hole (7) in the upper floors of the IRWST, and a debris trapping basket (5) disposed inside the IRWST below the hole (7) in the upper floor; the upper opening of the debris retaining basket (5) is higher than the highest liquid level in the IRWST, and the opening aligns with the hole (7) in the upper floor of the IRWST. The debris retaining basket (5) and a pump inlet filter (6) are separately disposed in the IRWST, or connected via a fixing device. The debris barrier (4), the debris retaining basket (5), and the pump inlet filter (6) form a three-stage filtration system.
