PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time required for color registration correction.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, a distance between adjacent photoreceptor drums is set to be less than one drum circumference and equal to or larger than 1/2 drum circumference. Write sections for colors write registration marks MK, MC, MM, MY to the photoreceptor drums simultaneously, transfer the registration marks MK, MC, MM, MY to an intermediate transfer belt 8 simultaneously. The registration marks MK, MC, MM, MY of the colors are formed at an equal interval over one drum circumference of the photoreceptor drum. The registration marks MK, MC, MM, MY of adjacent colors are transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 8 alternately. The lengths of the registration marks MK, MC, MM, MY formed on the intermediate transfer belt can be equal to (1+3/4) drum circumference, which is shorter than before, thereby reducing the time required for color registration correction. |
