The method involves reading a control signal (x) for controlling a valve (135) of a vehicle (100), where the control signal represents current flow through a component (140) of the valve. Amplitude of a dither signal portion of the control signal is determined, and dither signal is determined by using a dither reference signal and the detected amplitude of the dither signal portion. The control signal is formed by modulating the dither signal to a guide signal, where the guide signal represents desired current flow through the component. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for providing control signal for a valve (2) a computer-program product with program codes for executing a method for providing control signal for a valve.
