PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce optical axis tilt of an optical deflector without having a function of adjusting the optical axis tilt.SOLUTION: A scanning optical device includes: an optical deflector having a polygon mirror for deflecting a light flux from a light source and reflecting the light flux, and a rotary driving part which rotates the polygon mirror around a rotation axis as the center; and an optical box for housing the optical deflector. The scanning optical device irradiates an object with the light flux for scanning. The optical box includes two fixed seat surfaces for fixing the optical deflector, and a contact section to be brought into contact with the optical deflector when the optical deflector is fixed to the two fixed seat surfaces of the optical box with screws. When the optical deflector is fixed to the optical box with the rotation axis inclined, the contact part in contact with the optical deflector reduces the inclination. |
