The present invention relates to a process for treating heavy petroleum feedstocks for the production of fuel oils and fuel oil bases, in particular bunker fuel oils and bunker fuel oil bases, with a low sulphur content. This process comprises a step (a) of fixed-bed hydrotreatment of a heavy sulphur-comprising hydrocarbon feedstock, followed by a step (b) of separation of the effluent obtained from the hydrotreatment step (a) into at least one light fraction and at least one heavy fraction, a step (c) of hydroconversion of at least part of the heavy fraction of the effluent obtained from step (b) in at least one boiling-bed reactor containing a supported catalyst, and a step (d) of separation of the effluent obtained from step (c) to obtain at least one gaseous fraction and at least said liquid hydrocarbon fraction. |
